Volunteer With Us
We like to refer to our volunteers as changers of lives, encouragers of dreams, and creators of futures.
Whether you have special skills that might be useful, or you really just believe that you can contribute your little quotes, ECUMCC has volunteer opportunities where you can make a difference. The bibles says;
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me. And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
- Matthew 25:34-36, 40 (NLT)
ECUMCC is a place where we invite and encourage our congregation and other individuals to discover and use their God-given talents to serve, care, teach, and lead, and where people are equipped and empowered to do so. We invite you to explore ways to serve the church, serve in the community, or the world.
Volunteering has a spiritual benefit as well. By volunteering, an individual will often want to dive deeper into the life of the church. At the same time, they serve not only as a helping hand, but also as a witness of the Gospel message within the community.
In ECUMC, we understand that God desires for us to be in ministry beyond the walls of the church. We acknowledge that God has a plan to mend the brokenness in creation and we anticipate that He will use us as part of that plan. What is your role in His plan?
Our mission efforts are arranged around this passage of scripture, which reminds us of why we do what we do and where our guidance comes from. Where is God calling you to participate?
Volunteers are our lifeblood, and we’ll treat you with kindness and respect, provide you with training and support, and ensure you know how much we value your contribution.
Below are some of the volunteer opportunities available with ECUMCC
Serve the Church:
You can volunteer in the various ministries of our church. Each person plays an important part in building this body of Christ by sharing their gifts and talents with the church. Just as there are many gifts, there are many ways to serve at ECUMCC.
Youth Ministry:
Ministries with young people, a vital part of The United Methodist Church, are found in local congregations throughout the church. It was created to connect young people and those in ministries with young people to each other, to the church, and to God. There are lots of activities/programs a volunteer can be involved with in this department:
-
Training of young people in various skill acquisition, entrepreneurship and leadership
-
Training young people on computer technology and intensify sound Biblical studies and prayer.
-
Developing youth/young adult spiritual leaders in our church to transform lives by making disciples of Jesus Christ; volunteers will assist in organising weekly bible studies, door to door evangelism, organised retreat programs,
-
Our young people also carried out lots of community activities in which volunteers can assist them; orphanages visit, hospital visit, and donation to street children
Children’s Ministry
Children are important to Jesus. "But Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.'" (Matthew 19:14). It's made so evident throughout the whole bible that children are important to Jesus which means they should be important to us, too! As Christians, we know to show people Jesus' love, but it is so important to also share that unconditional love with children. In children's ministry, we get the opportunity to love sweet kids every week.
Children need a firm foundation. "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it." (Proverbs 22:6). The time we spend with children at a young age impacts the rest of their lives because the things that are instilled as a child won't be forgotten when they are older. Children’s ministry allows us to pour these core values into children while they are still growing so that when they grow older they will know these values. As we teach them bible verses to remember, they are able to recall those later in life in times of trouble.
Here are a few roles volunteers interested in our Children’s Ministry can do:
Weekly Saturday Classes.
Our children gather on Saturday afternoon at 3.00 pm to connect with each other, share and learn about themselves, their faith and the world around them. The ministry advocates that all children are welcome and expected to be fully engaged in the ministries of the church. Volunteer can help children with their bible studies, stories, games etc
Summer Music Camp & Programs:
For volunteers who has passion for music are encouraged to apply. If you are good in playing any of the instruments, guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals, then this is for you. ECUMCC music camps offer an incredible selection of experiences from beginner music camps to intermediate and advanced sessions. Our music camps often include performance boot camps, artist-themed camps, song writing and recording, and more—there's a camp for every interest and skill level. Most music camps end with an epic live rock show performed by the children.
Holiday or Special Event Opportunities:
One-time events are ideal volunteer opportunities for those whose busy schedules don’t allow them to commit weekly. Christmas, back to school donation, Easter services and also special events tend to take more hands to pull together all the details, and numerous volunteers are needed. Normal Sunday volunteer roles are multiplied; more greeters, more children’s ministry volunteers, and more parking attendants.
Community Services and Outreach Volunteers
At ECUMC, we are passionate about serving the larger community, both local and worldwide. Our church is home to several community outreach programs. We have a strong image in our communities and benefits from excellent working relations with different social groups and technical partners. ECUMC has adopted 2 orphanages, 2 rural schools and 1 handicapped centre for their charity projects. We provide direct services, support, encouragement, and access to community resources and technical assistance. For volunteers who are interested to stay for a long term, that’s from 1 month to 6 months, we do placement in these institutions.
